Journalist Lawrence G. Green described the Swartberg Pass as
one of the most impressive in the world. According to Green, this is only
surpassed by the road in the Himalayas beyond Darjeeling that leads to Tibet.
The Swartberg Pass is inextricably linked to the road
engineer Thomas Charles John Bain who conquered this formidable mountain by
establishing a direct line from Oudtshoorn to the Prince Albert station. The
steep slopes made it a particularly difficult task.
Come hike with us for five days in this imposing mountain
range and experience how your soul also experiences a journey in the
breathtaking beauty. The route is challenging in places and hikers are required
to have a high degree of fitness to be able to hike the uneven terrain and up
the steep slopes. We sleep over for two nights in a mountain hut on the mountain and
two nights in a chalet against the mountain. Challenge yourself, lose your
heart on a mountain and come and join us in the Klein Karoo's Swartberg.
The Klein Karoo Camino – A Journey for your Soul.
